I have no idea what the conventional wisdom is, but they seem to be ginning up a bit too much hype for just a spec bump.
ARM machines maybe? That’d be something. What do you think?
(Yes, Framework still sucks for funding DHH.)

RISC-V with standard Fedora or Nix base install options.
EDIT: In reality probably a mac mini clone for GenAI based development. That is “SuperAI” or something instead of their regular AI. Or with moar RUBY!
probably ARM, but would like to see a framework phone at some point too ![]()
I’m with you, probably a laptop with RISC-V, i remember them working to make that work a lot. And yeah, really focused on AI, since thats whats cool nowadays….
Looks like we were all wrong:
I’m dumb when it comes to hardware, but their video explains a lot of the benefits of the upgrades too https://youtu.be/GnOpIQJnYWU?si=DFvl9ohYxLne2_rc (the verge link was giving me the signup wall)
I still don’t understand why I would go with Intel over AMD here, other than AMD has AI in their board and I’m not doing local AI things.
