OpenAI kills Sora, Disney exits deal

Oh we looooove to see it!

OpenAI, Microsoft, Nvidia, Disney. Everyone can agree no one wants them around. They’re the biggest companies traded on the new york stock exchange, so they’re completely captured by finance and technocrat interests. There isn’t any honor in these organizations, and their incredible success in capital finance never brings prosperity to normal people. It’s hard to imagine any doom that could befall them that I wouldn’t celebrate. One would encourage the lowly worker employed by one of these companies to seek employment elsewhere; several of them are certainly adjacent to a ‘valid military target’ these days.

There is a lot of news lately that there are no economic gains in AI, and that AI technologies have been failing and unprofitable. I hope for further news of financial ruin in the AI sector.

In particular with Sora, as someone who spends many hours watching videos of youtube every day, I see many youtubers frustrated that OpenAI used their creative projects to train Sora without compensation - probably illegally and without disclosure. When the failing AI interests find themselves with less political power, I hope a big class-action lawsuit awaits Sora-OpenAI-Microsoft, big enough to bankrupt them.

Sora has also contributed a wave of slop on my feeds and news. The instances it has produced something quality or premium can be counted less than a hundred, but the overwhelming majority has been apocalyptic: Not only because on tiktok you have to scroll twice as much to find something worth watching, but also because warring states use it for their jingoistic propaganda.
