Holy crap this story knocked me over. It is everything I’m feeling about the machines right now.
Wow, thank you for the share.
Computers, in general, have been a sore subject for me here lately. And work requires AI too.
I drove by my local library and saw “ChatGPT Workshop” the other day. I looked up the event and saw that it was a hands-on workshop led by a local college professor (the library event doesn’t mention what he is a professor in, yet the university page has Construction engineering with no current research in AI).
I think I’m going to try to lead a lecture on “Critical Thinking in the Age of AI”. I’ve also been wanting to have an in-person space for reading, writing, art, and expression without any computers or monitors present.
This is great writing, but I find it deeply sad that it’s not real. I’m so so tired of the enshittification of everything.
I have no doubt at all that groups like this are popping up all over.
I liked this piece but I found it a bit abrasive and gritty. To improve the overall flow, I went ahead and dropped this into ChatGPT to improve the literary quality…
